Relationships

Intention for the day:

I can honor and respect my attachment style and work to repair it.

Attachment can guide how you act in your life, what you believe to be true about your relationships and yourself, and what you believe about love.

So what is attachment? Attachment is a special emotional relationship that involves an exchange of comfort, care, and pleasure.

Realizing that internally, you may have many different attachment styles, is just part of your journey on the road to healing. The good news is that attachment injuries can be repaired and that by identifying other peoples' attachment, you can also help them become more secure in your relationship with them.

So what role might factors such as divorce or parental discord play in the formation of attachment styles? In one study, Hazan and Shaver found that parental divorce seemed unrelated to attachment style. Instead, their research indicated that the best predictor of adult attachment style was the perceptions that people have about the quality of their relationships with their parents as well as their parent's relationship with each other.
